SevensCoach's Corner

In recent years the Stingers have continued their success by reaching Sweet 16's in both 2001 and 2002. Nobody will forget the "SuperHeros" that infiltrated Rochester that weekend. They also probably won't forget Jen Dean's outfit and Hope's rendition of a Janis song! In 2002, the Stingers beat Seattle in the first round; unfortunately, they suffered a loss to New York the next day. However, they are the only team that lost on that day to score any points. Even with the loss, the Stingers advanced onto the elite 8 in Blaine, Minnesota. The first day (Saturday), the Stingers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Jazz in the last minutes of the game. The final score was 30-33. Even with the loss, the Stingers still finished 8th in the nation.

Ok, the truth is that I (as well as a majority of the other current Stingers) haven't the slightest idea about any of the team's history. We think the team may have been founded sometime in the vacinity of 1979, and at some point between then and now, someone began requiring Swiss Nationals to wear embarrassing warm-up gear. I understand that we have a constiutution (I only have Sue Parker's word on this) but confess to have never seen the actual physical document (if a quorum is called in the woods, and no one is there to vote, do we still get to buy a keg?)

To keep track of recent history anyway, I've composed this list of Stinger Moments. Seasoned vets should feel free to submit other gems if they are so moved.
